AUTMHQ UPDATES
Hola and Hello!
The day has arrived! ?? After months of planning, the 12 Days of AUTMHQ begins today! The Austin Urban Technology Movement (AUTMHQ) staff will be happy and ready to meet with you today at 6 p.m. We have so much to share! These evenings are bringing the community together to discuss our organization's biggest goals for the coming year. We meet and network with everyone involved in the movement that is increasing diversity in the technology industry. In this regard, we will hold a special AUTMHQ Talks with NI, Microsoft, AAYHF, ACC, and Harvard Business Publishing partners. One of the most enjoyable events is the AUTMHQ Gameshow, where the community will have fun while learning about technology, diversity, and other important topics covered in our weekly newsletter. You can win amazing prizes, such as AUTMHQ swag! ?? Furthermore, we invite you to join us at our in-person Merry, Merry Happy Hour with AUTMHQ and partners at The Dogwood at The Domain. And lastly, we will conclude our series with the Community Holiday Party at the Special Events Center of the Austin Public Library. These events will be memorable because we will be celebrating accomplishments, goals, and the holiday season ??with the community. We can't be more excited to host the third edition of 12 Days of AUTMHQ and provide all attendees with a great opportunity to network and establish important relationships for their careers. TECH NEWS
Let's complete this FCC National Broadband Map!
We encourage everyone to check their address on the FCC's first-ever draft fabric maps, which show where broadband service is available street by street at the address level. The information was voluntarily self-reported to the FCC by the internet service providers. It's critical because the next map will determine NTIA funding for the state of Texas' BEAD (Broadband Equity, Access, and Development Program). We can't fix it if we don't know where the "holes" are. We anticipate mistakes because this has never been done before and it is a large task. If anyone discovers incorrect information, such as a map showing high-speed fixed broadband service being available at an address that is incorrect, they are encouraged to challenge it. The FCC needs to hear back by January 12 in order to include updates in the next fabric map.
