Wishing you the happiest season for you and your family!
AUTMHQ UPDATES
Hola and Hello!
I'd like to begin this letter by wishing you a very Merry Christmas from the Austin Urban Technology Movement (AUTMHQ) family to yours. We wish you peace, joy, and prosperity this holiday season, and we thank you for being such an important part of what we do. Working with and for our community this year has been an incredible experience, and we look forward to more!
The message that this season brings us is peace and reassurance in challenging times; this time of the year allows us to immerse ourselves in the hope of Christmas. For a time, we are removed from our daily problems and replaced with family presence, gift giving, festive decorations, and lots of love. Furthermore, we begin to consider a new start to the new year, and we start making resolutions to make changes in our lives that will bring peace, happiness, and success to ourselves, our families, and our communities.
Austin Urban Technology Movement (AUTMHQ) is proud to be a resource for families and individuals all over the world seeking to make a fresh start. We are able to help others pursue a better-paying career in technology, obtain certifications to reach new career goals, or simply further their education by providing wrap-around services. Our programs are designed to meet a wide range of needs. Please contact us to embark on your new career journey together. In the meantime, we wish you a joyous holiday season, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration and meeting new potential AUTMites, partners, and volunteers.

6 ways tech firms can create a more gender-inclusive workforce
[...] While that data can seem daunting, there are several ways companies can help mitigate, and even eliminate, these inequities among their employees and across the industry—not only because it’s “right and fair” to do so but it’s also good business: Companies that score high in gender diversity on executive teams were 25% more likely to have above-average profitability, according to McKinsey. Here are six elements of a multi-pronged approach companies can adopt to create an equitable workplace and influence the pipeline of women and people of color entering STEM.

How one Triangle company is advancing Hispanic representation in the tech industry
Diversity of experiences, ideas and backgrounds is critical in the tech industry, not only to provide value to consumers, but also to foster innovative, inclusive and diverse workplaces. The U.S. Hispanic population is the second largest ethnic group in the country, accounting for 18.4% of the total population, and it is one of the fastest growing populations, expected to grow 30% by 2060, according to a report from McKinsey. However, Hispanics make up only eight percent of workers in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math, according to a 2021 study by Pew Research. ???????????????????????????????????????? ?? How to Jump-Start Your 2023 Tech Job Search
If your New Year's resolutions include looking for a new job, you’re not alone. More than half of technologists in our recent survey said they are likely to change employers in the next 12 months (up from 44 percent a year ago).
Before starting your search, however, it's essential to research and prepare, especially when the way companies recruit and hire tech professionals is continuing to change. For example, many tech hiring managers aren’t taking a holiday break, explained Jackie Vazquez, senior director of technology at Tandym Group. They’re interviewing during the holidays and scheduling interviews for the beginning of 2023, once new budgets go into effect. Also, companies committed to boosting the candidate experience are shortening the hiring process, slicing away at the interview rounds and testing that make the process interminable for candidates. ???????????????????????????????????????? ?? Check out AUTMHQ's cohort-based courses and job board to help you with your 2023 tech job search!

AUTMHQ EVENTS
Thank you for being a part of 12 Days of AUTMHQ 2022!
We want to thank you for attending our Community Holiday Party held on Saturday, December 17th at the Austin Public Library's Special Events Center. The event was a huge success thanks to all of our partners, volunteers, and AUTMites who supported us. Our staff did an outstanding job of informing all of our attendees about our mission, enrolling new AUTMites in our programs, and distributing devices. Going forward, if you or someone you know needs devices, internet access, or wants to begin a cohort-based course to obtain credentials to pursue a career in technology, please have them contact us because that's what we do!
Our 12 Days of AUTMHQ 2022 provided us with the opportunity to connect and interact with the community, our partners, our staff, our volunteers, and our AUTMites. We learned about significant accomplishments throughout the year, as well as plans and goals for 2023. If you were unable to attend these discussions, you can watch and enjoy them by clicking here.
