Individuals and families can receive tech devices through AUTM Distribution Drives in order to complete one of AUTM's many career pathways, earn a credential, and work and thrive in the technology industry. This is how AUTM achieves its goal of incorporating more Black and Hispanic individuals to the field of technology.

Digital Equity Focus Group
These sessions will be held virtually, and each participant will receive $100.
September 18, 2021, from 10 am to 11:30 am.
The City of Austin in partnership with Measure, and Austin Urban Technology Movement (AUTM) is inviting all community members to participate in our digital equity focus groups to discuss the community's experiences accessing the internet, inform us on programs and services that can bridge internet access gaps and hear about solutions that have worked for you and your family. Each participant will need to have internet access and an internet-enabled device with a video camera and microphone. If you do not have a device with internet access, you can join by phone. The phone number for the conference fine will be provided to you if selected to participate. API data and information shared will be anonymized. This means no names will be included in the final report. This report will be made available to all participants when completed.
Road to Hire to Bring Paid Tech Training and Job Access to Under-Resourced Young Adults (18–25) in Austin
Local young adults who graduated from high school or have a GED can now apply for paid 6-month tech apprenticeships, leading to full-time jobs with an average starting salary of $55K and benefits.
Road to Hire, a nonprofit that provides under-represented and under-resourced young adults with non-traditional pathways to high-earning tech jobs, is launching a paid, six-month Coding Apprenticeship program in Austin — which is a quickly growing tech hub. The paid, boot camp-style apprenticeship trains local young adults 18–25 in coding skills, professional development and connects graduates with full-time jobs with premier employers like Red Ventures — with full benefits and an average starting salary of $55,000 or more. Tropical Storm Nicholas Updates: AccuWeather Launches Digital Hurricane Tracker
The hurricane tracker is available in its app and online for the “above-normal” 2021 hurricane season.
STATE COLLEGE, Pa.—AccuWeather has added the new AccuWeather Hurricane Tracker to the AccuWeather App for iOS and Android and to accuweather.com. "We are expecting a more active than normal hurricane season in 2021, and the AccuWeather Hurricane Tracker will give our users who want to be 'in the know' a significant advantage when preparing for and staying apprised of a storm's track, whether that storm has already made an impact or is nearing landfall," said AccuWeather's lead hurricane forecaster Dan Kottlowski.
Some 'Tesla Bot' work to be done in Austin, job posting indicates
Elon Musk's company lists about 270 job openings online for Texas capital.
Tesla Inc. is looking for an engineer in the Austin area to work on its latest futuristic concept: a humanoid robot.
CEO Elon Musk introduced plans for "Tesla Bot" at the company's recent AI Day on Aug. 19, where company officials detailed the company's use of artificial intelligence. The robot, which will look and walk like a human, is intended to perform unsafe, boring, or repetitive tasks, Musk said at the event.

Amazon to Hire for More Than 40,000 Corporate and Tech Jobs Across US
Many positions will be in Seattle and northern Virginia, but the company is looking to recruit in other regions as well.
Amazon is hiring for more than 40,000 corporate and technology jobs in dozens of locations across the U.S., the company said.
Many of the jobs will be located at its headquarters in Seattle and at its HQ2 site in Arlington, Virginia, near Washington, D.C. But the company is also planning for significant recruitment in Dallas and Austin, Texas; New York; Chicago; the Atlanta area; Boston; Nashville, Tennessee; Los Angeles and San Diego; and Detroit, among other places, a company spokesperson said by email.
